Stonybrook Early Learning Center provides a loving environment and varied experiences that allow your child to make a successful break from home, learn to be with other children in a group setting, take turns and learn to make choices.  We help your child develop an interest and joy in learning, a sense of security and a feeling of success.  Through experiences, we will help your child develop self-expression, self-control, creativity and responsibility.  

 

Our program began in January of 1973.  The preschool is a mission of the Stonybrook United Methodist Church and is dedicated to aid the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of the children of the church and community.  Our school comes under the direction of the Leadership Board of the Church.  The ELC Board of Directors* is responsible to the commission. This board is made up of church officials, the preschool director and parents of children attending.  They review matters of policy and expenditures of funds.

 

Located in the back of the Stonybrook United Methodist Church on Cherrybottom Road in Gahanna, the school is in a country setting surrounded by a grassy, tree covered area, away from the busy city streets.  We offer an outdoor playground area, an indoor gym facility and a centrally located all-purpose area that is used for our group music class.

 

Our program is available to all children without regard to race, color, religion, national origin or sex.  Your child must be 3 years old by September 30th of the current school year to attend the three-year-old class or 4 years old by September 30th of the current school year to attend the four-year-old class.  To attend the five-year-old class your child must be entering kindergarten the next fall.  Every child must be toilet trained prior to the start of classes.

Our facility is safe and secure!  Doors are only unlocked during drop off/pick up times, we do have a buzzer system for admittance into the building during all other hours.
